Homemade, healthy pizzas

Pizza night at home can be fun, yummy and good for you! By making them yourselves you can choose ingredients, including plenty of healthy, ‘everyday’ foods. It can also be a fun way to try new foods!
If you’re fancy, you can make your own pizza dough and bases. But, it’s okay if you don’t have time for that because there are plenty of ready-made, healthy, alternatives for pizza bases such as wholemeal pita bread or wholemeal English muffins. All you need to do is top them with your favourite ingredients and bake them in the oven or cook them under the grill.

Mediterranean Pizza
  • Tomato sugo or pizza sauce
  • Cherry tomatoes, halved
  • Zucchini, cut into ribbons using a vegetable peeler
  • Red onion, cut into slivers
  • Black olives
  • Grated, reduced-fat cheese
Sweet and sour chicken pizza
  • Vegemite
  • Shredded cooked chicken
  • Sliced pineapple, fresh or tinned
  • Grated mozzarella
  • Sweet chilli sauce, for drizzling
Good ‘n’ green pizza
  • A good drizzle of garlic olive oil
  • Seasonal roast veggies e.g.broccolini or thinly sliced broccoli
  • A small amount of thinly sliced ham
  • Bocconcini, torn
  • Freshly ground black pepper
